Parker Faller Field

Parker Faller Field, where the Yaks baseball team plays, was originally built in 1937 by Yakima businessperson and attorney Shirley D. Parker and began as a home for his minor league baseball team, the Pippins.

While the facility (then known as Parker Field) was primarily a professional ballpark for its first 30 years, it also served as a football stadium for YVC and the Yakima School District. A fire, whose origin was never ascertained, destroyed most of Parker Field’s grandstand in 1962 and the facility was subsequently razed in 1967.

In 1973, the basic field complex as it appears today was erected as part of a strategy to reinvigorate an American Legion baseball program.  As a result, a partnership between YVC and Yakima Youth Baseball formed and the facility continues to host both programs to this day.

In 2015, during the celebration of Bill Faller’s 90^th birthday weekend, the field was officially renamed Parker Faller Field in honor of the long-time, Hall of Fame YVC baseball coach from 1961 – 1987. In addition, Faller served as the college’s second athletic director from 1972 – 1983.
